Episode 3: The Honorable Karen E. Schreier

United States District Judge, District of South Dakota

Canvassing voters door-to-door as a sixth-grader was the start of the Honorable Karen Schreier’s work on political campaigns. While she wasn’t interested in running for office, she was determined to help other candidates succeed and rose to the position of Chair for the South Dakota Democratic Party. As chair, she was introduced to a national network that led to federal judiciary appointments. Schreier points to being the first (and only) federal district court judge in South Dakota as her biggest success and is proud that it makes the same opportunity available to other women.
