Join the Fight

2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, granting most women in America the right to vote. To commemorate this milestone in women’s history, Governor Kristi Noem appointed a Women’s Vote Centennial Delegation to organize statewide celebrations, gather historical artifacts, develop educational materials about the suffrage movement and more.

Together with the South Dakota State Historical Society and the Historical Society Foundation, Her Vote. Her Voice. (HVHV) Centennial Delegation will lead initiatives and raise funds to ensure that the history of South Dakota’s women will be collected and preserved for future generations.

It’s important for our young people to understand the path suffragists had to walk in order to secure this right for women in our country.
— Kristi Noem // South Dakota Governor, 2019
